About
My name is Sadie Dearing
and I'm a neurodivergent student and mixed-media artist currently rooted on the east coast of North Carolina with my partner and our little cat family.
I was fortunate to have books, pencils, and paintbrushes put in front of me from a young age and I've never stopped doodling in my books or letting my studies inform my creativity since. I love reading history, especially local, southern, indigenous histories. And an appreciation for the local flora, fauna, sounds, and seasons of the southeastern U.S. inspires my creative and academic work.
I'm currently studying neurodiversity thoery, the social model of disability, and social movements through a multifaceted/intersectional sociological lens. I hope to weave webs of connectivity through my work from the past to the present, between and beyond. I want to preserve the Southern voice in the tradition of writers like Zora Neale Hurston and Flannery O'Connor. I aim to record and amplify neurodivergent voices in the south through traditional and alternative means, and connect these voices to the people working toward social accountability, justice, and equity in the region. And I hope to contribute to a movement that successfully creates a universal basic standard of living for all.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy my work ✦

FYI: nothing on this site or any of my work at all was made using AI. I have never and will never use AI for anything, especially my writing, call me a luddite all you want! AI models exploit humans and natural resources and there is no ethical argument for their use anywhere.
